Mama has fond memories of Harleston Park, hanging out here often as a teen, as well as many fun play dates with my kids. With it’s giant metal slide and fun equipment, it was always a winner. But now… it’s an absolute winner! Glen Eira’ Council’s redevelopment of the playground is an absolute ripper. Hardly a surprise though. These guys know how to do play. Remember Booran Reserve!

Not quite of the size comparison of Booran, but you’ll certainly recognise elements like the rubber soft fall stairs, this time in a fun burnt orange, leading up to a new giant metal slide. I bet the locals asked to keep that element, but now you enter the slide via a fun climbing net.

The whole park has a really nice natural element to it. The play equipment is mainly wooden with forts, bridges and cubbies to climb and play in, some over a giant sand pit. There are large rocks and wooden stepping stones to play on and pieces of equipment, like the swings, made out of imperfect logs instead of perfect posts or metal.

A half-size basketball court for the sporty ones, a super fun giant acorn cubby, music play, and of course the old creek bed is still there, but not currently running. It’s all topped off by a brand new toilet block. Winning!
