So the Christmas mayhem is all done and dusted, when should I pack away all the decorations and toss the tree?
Some people believe that leaving your tree up after the new year is bad luck. According to superstition you should take down your tree on December 31st before midnight, to avoid bringing misfortune from the old year into the new.
However Christian Tradition says the decorations are meant to be taken down on the “Twelfth Night” or “Epiphany,”’ also known as “Three Kings Day.”
The twelve days of Christmas actually begin on Christmas day, and the Twelfth Night, also known as Three Kings Day, lands on January 6th. So you should leave your tree up until after then.
Whatever you choose is fine by us! Leave it up until Easter if you really love your decorations. Just toss some new ones on the tree to suit the season.
