A range of children’s watches has been urgently recalled over a dangerous defect.
The ACCC have recalled Kaisercraft’s Kaiser Kids Slap Band Watches as the items do not comply with the Consumer Goods Safety Standard 2020.
The products, which come in various character faces, were sold at Kaisercraft outlets and online nationally since December 27, 2019, until January 31, 2021.
What are the defects?
The products do not comply with the ‘Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020’.
If the watch face is removed from the slap band, the battery compartment of the watch is not adequately secured and the button battery in the product is easily accessible.
What are the hazards?
If young children gain access to the button batteries and ingest them, they may suffer internal burn injuries, which can result in serious illness and even death. In addition, the batteries may pose a choking hazard to young children.
What should consumers do?
Consumers should immediately stop using the products and return them to the nearest Kaisercraft store to receive a full refund.
