Easter bonnets are a tradition that seems to really mark the start of all the Easter fun. Whether your child needs a bonnet for a school fair or parade this a great project to do together.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Bonnet
• Pom poms
• Chenille sticks
• Felt sheets; white and pink
• Scissors
• Chenille Bunny packet
• Hot glue gun and glue sticks

INSTRUCTIONS – Bunny ears hat

Step 1 – Draw 2 ear shapes onto the pink felt, followed by 2 smaller ear shapes on the white. Cut out and glue together using the hot glue gun. Position on the brim of the hat and glue in place to create your bunny ears.

Step 2 – Take 3 chenille sticks and twist them in the centre to create the whiskers. Glue onto the top of the hat where you want the mouth section of your bunny to sit.

Step 3 – Then cut out 2 small rectangle pieces of white felt for the bunny’s teeth. Position them onto the top of the hat just under the whiskers and glue in place. Add 2 large and 1 medium pom pom to create the mouth and nose section, again glue in place with the hot glue gun.

Step 4 – To finish, use the hot glue gun to glue the chenille bunnies around the brim of the hat.

INSTRUCTIONS – Floral hat

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Bonnet
• Hot glue gun and glue sticks
• Easter faux floristry packets
• Faux grass runner
• Easter ribbon
• Scissors

Step 1 – Remove the ribbon from the bonnet and set aside.

Step 2 – Cut a strip of the faux grass runner the measurement of the circumference of the crown of the hat. Use the hot glue gun to glue in place.

Step 3 – Next take the ribbon from step 1 or make a new one and tie that over the top of the grass and into a bow at the back of the hat. You can glue this in place to secure it if you wish.

Step 4 – Pour out the contents of the faux floristry packet out onto a clean work surface. Use the scissors to cut off the plastic point under neither the flowers so they have a flat base. Remove the wire from the toad stalls, so they too can sit flat.

Step 5 – Lastly play with positioning the butterflies, lady bugs, flowers and toad stalls on the bonnet in a random design to cover the entire hat. Glue in place with the hot glue gun.
