Tips to green clean your routine

1. Choose planet friendly products

For items we use so frequently at home, it’s important to consider a the product’s lifespan, what it’s made of and where it ends up after we use it. Zero Co products are made from plant based formulas so they’re good for your family and the planet. They come in single-use plastic free packaging made from ocean, beach and landfill plastics and deliver straight to your door carbon negative, so you’re reducing your footprint before the cleaning has even begun.

2. Sustainable storage

Using beeswax wraps at home will keep your food fresher for longer, they’re easy to clean and means you never have to use plastic cling wrap. Avocados and bread are two things we vouch last longer in our wraps. Glass tupperware containers are also a great way to store food and will last you a lifetime! Reusing jars is a great alternative to spending money on tupperware and are perfect for storing sauces, nuts or liquids and transporting small meals like overnight oats or soup.

3. Soft plastics

Collecting your soft plastics like chip packets or chocolate wrappers is an easy way to eliminate landfill waste and ensure your plastics are being recycled and reused in the future. You can drop off all your soft plastics to REDcycle bins at Coles and Woolworths. If you’re not sure what plastics are ‘soft plastics’, REDcycle breaks it down really simply. Usually, if you can scrunch it and it’s free of food and liquid waste, you’re good to go.

4. Composting

So much of what we throw out is food waste that can be composted, think banana peels, tea leaves, veggie offcuts. You can free up so much of your bin space by having a compost system or small bin for food scraps and waste at home. Composting saves money, can help improve your soil, avoids unnecessary waste adding to landfill and reduces your environmental impact. Fun fact – if you compost at home for just one year, you can save global warming gases equivalent to all the CO2 your kettle produces annually, or your washing machine produces in three months!

Using a single-use plastic free dish-wand or reusable washcloth. There are some great brands out there offering eco-friendly alternatives to plastic products or washcloths that only last a week.
