Moomba Festival returns from 11 – 14 March 2022, taking over the banks of the Yarra River, Birrarung Marr and Alexandra Gardens for a huge long weekend of family friendly fun. Best of all, entry is free!
It’s no secret that Melbourne’s beloved Moomba is a kids paradise. There are loads of fun, free activities to keep the whole family entertained – from epic skate park competitions, NBL and water sports to face painting, crafts, dance workshops, kids yoga and loads more.
So whether you’re a dare devil bursting for a ride fix, a food-truck-loving-foodie, or looking to get your dance groove to some awesome beats, Moomba has something for everyone. Returning in 2022, see the hilarious Birdman Rally on 13 March, where courageous competitors don inventive homemade flying devices and use them to hurtle themselves over the Yarra all in the name of charity and – of course – a whole lot of fun!
Don’t miss the iconic Moomba Parade on 14 March, capturing hearts and inspiring imaginations with larger-than-life floats, dance troupes, community groups and performers. So gather the family and come play.
Moomba Fireworks
Friday Saturday Sunday & Monday Nights 9.30 – 9.35pm

Feel the explosion of joy as the sky lights up with a colourful firework display each night of Moomba.
Sit, stand or dance under the pyrotechnic spectacular, an exploding array of flowers and multi-layered colours.
Friday ride pass
For Friday only, Moomba are offering a Friday Ride Pass deal, which gives you access to three hours of unlimited rides (6-9pm) for just $45 per person.

Moomba Masters Championship | Waterskiing
Wednesday, 3 March – Monday, 8 March 2021
Location: Yarra River, Batman Avenue, Melbourne
Now in its 61st year, Moomba Masters sees world-class, record-breaking athletes water ski and wakeboard down the Yarra. This event is your chance to see the best in watersports live and in action.
Elite, world-class watersport athletes will return to the Yarra River to compete in the Moomba Masters Championship!
This popular international event, running across five days, will see the world’s best water skiers and wakeboarders across 16 countries compete for the top spot in a series of competitions.
Competitors will take part in three event competitions (trick, slalom and jump) to win the coveted Moomba Masters title.
Birdman Rally
Sunday, 13th March 2022 – 11.00am – 1pm

The Birdman Rally with competitors plunging into the Yarra River for charity.
The antics are back with the hilarious Birdman Rally, where contestants aim to fly across the river by leaping off a four-metre platform with wings attached to their costumes.. all for a good cause.
Moomba Parade
Monday 14 March 2022 – 10.45am – 12pm
Birdwood Avenue – Kings Domain Park
A Melbourne staple, take your place on the sidelines as the vitality and energy of Moomba is brought to life through the spectacular Moomba Parade.
Community designed floats are sure to dazzle in the spotlight this year and will be accompanied by droves of talented performance troupes, professional and amateur dance groups, as well as school participants.
Route: begins on Birdwood Avenue, through Kings Domain parkland and conclude on Linlithgow Avenue near Queen Victoria Gardens.
