The Australian Museum (AM) is once again throwing open its doors to visitors of all ages for Nights at the Museum with a range of free after-hours events designed to bring Sydneysiders together for a lively mix of culture, music, talks, science, food and drink.

Taking place every Thursday night until the end of June, the weekly line-up of nighttime entertainment features a special pop-up bar and lounge area, live music, activities and more.

The new special exhibition, Kmart presents Jurassic World by Brickman®,will be open late as a part of the Nights at the Museum, offering LEGO® fanatics an after dark opportunity to experience over 50 large-scale dinosaurs, props, scenes and activities made from over six million LEGO® bricks.

Featuring an outstanding line up of First Nations talent Ngalu Warrawi Marri (We Stand Strong) celebrates the continued resistance and ongoing resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

Join the AM for an evening of performance, interviews and spoken word featuring some of the powerhouses of First Nations arts and music including poet Kirli Saunders and Ziggy Ramo as they reflect on the impacts of colonisation and mark 50 years since the establishment of the Tent Embassy.

With Protest Songs curated by Kobie Dee, music by acclaimed award-winning violinist Eric Avery and hosted by Bianca Hunt and Triple J’s Tyrone Pynor. 19 May 2022

Keen to go on a health kick or want to decipher your love life? Vivid Ideas presents Wellmania examining Sydney’s fixation with wellness with Brigid Delaney, Benjamin Law and Jenny Valentish.

Modern Love brings together a panel of experts including Author Jennifer Pinkerton, Scientia Professor of Evolution Rob Brooks and poet Jessie Tu to explore the entire gamut of modern love – from hard and fast hook-ups to lonely hearts and beyond. 9 June and 16 June 2022

And for those who want to forget work, cut loose and play, the latest LEGO® exhibition, Kmart presents Jurassic World by Brickman®, is bound to bring out your inner child. Head on down to the AM for a special evening of Brickman Up Late where Lego-focused fun is merged with music, food and a pop-up bar.

Visitors can also play games and win prizes with a trivia extravaganza hosted by Sydney quiz sensation Breko. 26 May 2022.

Aspire to staying sharp and sounding smart? Then the Talbot Oration is a no-brainer. In this free talk, Dr Rebecca Huntley explores the social phenomenon that is climate change and tools to help us realise a vision for a better climate future.  

Following the address, Distinguished Professor Larissa Behrendt hosts a panel with climate change trailblazers to discuss solutions and practical actions the public can take to help minimise climate change impact. Don’t be silent on climate as every conversation matters. 2 June 2022.

And if that isn’t enough to seduce you, faux French chanteuses, Baby et Lulu headline a night of sassy celebration. 12 May 2022.

The hidden rooftop gem, No. 1 William, will also be open late on Thursdays as part of Nights at the Museum. A perfect spot to soak up the sunset whilst enjoying 180-degree views across Hyde Park, Sydney Harbour and Cathedral Square.

Plus, enjoy late night shopping at the AM Shop and explore a beautiful range of toys, homewares, gifts and books inspired by the AM’s natural history and cultural collections.

The AM is COVID Safe and has increased cleaning and practices in place to protect the health of visitors and staff and minimise the spread of COVID-19. Facemasks are encouraged.
