After spending much of the last 12 months in our homes, it’s not surprising that our obsession with home organisation and decluttering is at an all-time high. In fact, almost half (46%) of us invested in decluttering our homes whilst in lockdown, while over a quarter (28%) admit they invested in deep cleaning while at home.

Now, TikTok’s newest trend ‘CleanTok’ is giving us hours of satisfying before and afters; enough to make us want to leap off the couch and scrub the shower floor. But wanting to clean our homes and actually doing it are two different things.

New research from Fantastic Services Group reveals that almost two-thirds (59%) of us procrastinate doing chores around the home, while over a quarter (28%) of Aussies admit that their house is tidy, but not necessarily clean.

It’s a common trap to fall into. We get so good at tidying our homes, putting away the kids toys each night, giving the kitchen bench a quick wipe with the dishcloth, that we sometimes forget what it actually means to make sure our homes are clean. Because our homes are tidy, they give the illusion of being clean too … But it isn’t until we’ve watched two hours of strangers using baking soda and vinegar to clean just about everything, that we realise we haven’t actually cleaned the oven, shower or kitchen sink in … well, a long time.

And because the thought of getting our homes to a ‘CleanTok’ standard can feel a bit overwhelming, Fantastic Services Group is encouraging the #NotSoCleanFreaks to call in the professionals for a fresh start and use your newfound tips and tricks to keep your house clean in between visits from your cleaner.
