There is nothing more satisfying than biting into a tender, moist but flaky and chewy croissant. This delectable baked good is so delicious, it has earned its own special day of the year – World Croissant day – this Sunday, January 30th

To celebrate World Croissant day this Sunday, we have shared Chloe Skipp’s ‘Cheats Hazelnut & Chocolate Croissant’ recipe. It’s buttery and soft, filled with delicious hazelnut spread, crunchy hazelnuts and irresistible dark chocolate.

Serves: 6 | Prep time: 5 mins | Cook time: 10 mins

Ingredients

6 x plain croissants
1 cup hazelnut spread
¾ (20g) cup rice bubbles
Pinch salt
½ (130g) cup roasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped
1/2 (100g) cup dark chocolate

Method

Preheat the oven on 160°C fan-forced, line an oven tray with baking paper.

In a small bowl, mix hazelnut spread, rice bubbles, salt and half of the hazelnuts.

Cut croissants ¾ through horizontally, and spread with 1-2 tbsp of hazelnut mixture.

Place on a prepared baking tray, and place in the oven for 10 minutes to warm slightly.

While the croissant is in the oven, place chocolate into a small saucepan on induction cooktop, level 1 to melt.

To assemble, drizzle chocolate over the croissants and sprinkle with remaining hazelnuts.
