Australian Idol judge, Meghan Trainor, has come under fire for making controversial comments about school teachers.
On the latest episode of her podcast, Workin’ on It, Meghan Trainor was speaking about the American schooling system with her brother and their podcast guest, Trisha Paytas.
Telling the audience that she chooses to homeschool her kids, the group were discussing their thoughts.
“To have a kid in school in America… F**k all that,” she said, referring to the dangers children face when it comes to gun laws in the country.
The podcast guest spoke in agreeance saying, “Kids can be mean- teachers, that was my trauma.”
“Teachers!” Meghan exclaimed.
“F**k teachers, dude.”
Teachers react
Her comment soon sparked a mass response from Teachers across the board coming out to respond to the offensive comment.
Due to the large amount of backlash the singer received, Meghan took to TikTok to post an apology video – one that has not been well received.
Meghan’s apology
“I was fired up because we were talking about how sending your kid to school here in America is so horrific,” she said.
“I had Trisha Paytas on the podcast and I knew her history with her teachers and I knew my husband’s history with his teachers and I was bullied by some teachers so, in that moment, I got angry and said F teachers.”
Meghan then continued saying she didn’t mean this comment to all teachers and “they have the hardest jobs and they are the most underpaid”.
She ended her video with the comment, “I’m so sorry to any teachers I made feel bad.”
Teacher’s do not find her apology sincere at all and say her podcast would have been edited and she didn’t even need to include that part of the discussion when it was finally produced.
One comment read “You can’t unsay something like this. Anything you do from this point forward will be viewed as reactionary and making up for something you did. Just saying sorry isn’t gonna cut it. You said it with your whole chest, and you allowed it to go through production. A podcast can be edited, and there’s no reason why a remark like this ever, ever should’ve been in your podcast.”
Another said, “This doesn’t even seem like a true apology.”
And another “Damage control is all she’s trying to do.”
