Museums Victoria will welcome visitors back to Melbourne Museum, Immigration Museum and Scienceworks from Friday 25 June.
The highly anticipated international exhibition from London’s Natural History Museum, Treasures of the Natural World, will open to the public for the first time in Australia at Melbourne Museum after being postponed in 2020.
Exclusive to Melbourne Museum, visitors will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to experience over 200 of the biggest, rarest and most fascinating objects from the NHM collections, and to hear the stories behind some of history’s greatest scientific discoveries.
From Saturday 26 June, Melbourne Museum and Scienceworks’ ever-popular school holiday programs kick start with a vibrant and exciting range of exhibitions, public programs and activities.
Born or Built? Our Robotic Future, recently opened at Scienceworks, explores the big questions of robotics and artificial intelligence, giving visitors the opportunity to get up close and interact with some of the unique robot personalities from our collection.
To celebrate NAIDOC Week 2021, Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre explores this year’s NAIDOC theme, Heal Country, giving visitors the opportunity to create their own story of caring for Country.

Find inspiration and tranquility this winter in Melbourne Museum’s Learning Lab. Working together, children and adults engage with Indigenous Victorian plant-life and develop skills in observation and digital art. Drawing on the range of Indigenous plant-life, participants learn about the native flora significant to the First Peoples of south-eastern Australia and are taken through step-by-step instructions on using digital art software to sketch, paint and create their own illustration of this unique native flora.

Mini Mega Model Museum

Born or Built? Our Robotic Future

Our recently opened exhibition, Born or Built? Our Robotic Future, is open every day these school holidays! Explore the big questions when it comes to robotics and artificial intelligence and, in the process, try out heaps of fun interactive exhibits, including the opportunity to move a ball with just your mind, test your face-making abilities against a machine and train a robot to complete an obstacle course.
Plus, you can now visit a robot zoo inside the exhibition! Get to know some of the unique robot personalities from our collection, and interact with them in fun and different ways. We’re also running a Sphero Robot activity for these school holidays only!

Have you ever heard of an activity where you can learn to code by dancing? We think we might be onto a world first!
